A Wild Wide World of Reading, celebrate summer 2014 with your library
Sponsored by the Friends of the Woodland Public Library
Take a trip with us around the world...in many stories! This year's summer reading theme involves world travel -- between the pages of a book, of course. When we travel, we expand our horizons. We catch a glimpse of another people and place, revel in the differences, and discover how much we have in common. And it forever changes our perspective. Yet that can all be accomplished when we read too! We hope you'll take advantage of all we have to offer you this summer, and read, read, read!
Our annual Summer Reading Club is for ages 0-18.
Ages 0-3 can be read to and receive stickers for a sticker booklet which we will provide when you sign up. It is up to the parent or caregiver to decide if a 3-year-old should participate in this age group or the next level.
Ages 3-12 can earn weekly prizes by bringing in their reading log with the total number of minutes read for that week, divided into 30-minute segments. For every 30 minutes you read, you will receive a cut-out hot-air balloon to put your name on. We will be putting these up on the bulletin board in the children's area and our goal is to completely cover up the board by the end of the program! If an older child reads to a younger child they can both count the minutes on their log. PLEASE BE SURE AND COUNT YOUR MINUTES BEFORE YOUR BRING YOUR READING LOG TO THE LIBRARY. You decide how many minutes you want to read per week during our program, which runs June 20-July 23.
Information about our teen reading club can be found on our Teen webpage.
Everyone has the opportunity to win weekly prizes for reading and a grand prize for reaching a personal goal (there is no minimum or maximum of reading we require in order to complete the reading club).
